Everyone's Questions

How do I get started with Creative Byline?
Take the tour! Choose the writer's tour or the editor's tour, depending on who you are and what you do. If you've still got questions, read through the rest of these FAQ pages. Still have questions? Contact us.

What about privacy? How do I know my information and manuscripts are secure?
We understand the value of your work, and we take your privacy very seriously. Your personal information belongs to you; the decision to share it is your decision. We will not share any information with other entities without your express permission. Read our entire privacy policy for more detail. Our site uses the same technology for security as most online shopping services.

What are the technical requirements for using Creative Byline?
Depending on the size of your documents, you'll likely prefer a broadband internet connection for best performance. Creative Byline is optimized with Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 as browsers. If you're an AOL user, you can use the AOL browser to connect with the internet, minimize that browser, and then launch Internet Explorer or Firefox (Internet Explorer may have come installed on your computer; Firefox is a free download).

Documents can be accepted and accessed in Microsoft Word (.doc) and PDF formats. If you have Office 2007, you can "Save As" to create a .doc document. The option is labeled "save as file type" on the "Save As" dialog box; choose "Word 1997-2003". To change your default to always save Word documents in .doc rather than .docx format (helpful if you frequently share documents with others), choose "Word Options" from the Office menu listing. Choose "Save files in this format" and choose "Word 1997-2003".
